Associate Director – Commercial

About the role

As an Associate Director – Commercial you will lead the commercial strategy for AECOM’s High Speed Rail project in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for driving profitability, managing contracts and guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver world‑class transportation infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive commercial strategies that optimise revenue, control costs and maximise profitability across all project phases.
• Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Establish and implement commercial procedures and protocols to enhance operational efficiency.
• Analyse complex commercial data and market trends to identify growth opportunities.
• Lead contract negotiations, vendor relationships and supplier agreements to secure favourable terms.
• Oversee project administration, including technical coordination, financial management and client satisfaction initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial management, project management or construction engineering within infrastructure or transportation sectors.
• Proven expertise in commercial strategy development, business development and P&L responsibility.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing large budgets and financial forecasting.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Construction engineering principles and specifications.
• Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) and advanced project management skills.
• Construction management software and related project management tools.
• Risk management and regulatory compliance, particularly UAE regulations.
