Associate Director – Technical Architect

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Associate/Associate Director – Technical Architect to lead technical delivery of major multidisciplinary projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical architectural design and delivery from concept through construction for large‑scale mixed‑use, commercial, hospitality, residential, aviation, cultural, healthcare and public sector projects.
• Provide expert guidance on building systems, materials, detailing, coordination and technical compliance, and review/approve architectural deliverables.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, landscape and specialist disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions and compliance with UAE regulations and international codes.
• Lead technical reviews, design audits, quality assurance processes and mentor architects and project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture with a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience, predominantly in the Middle East market.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale projects and leading multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Strong stakeholder management, client‑facing skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Preferred chartered architect accreditation (RIBA, AIA, ARB or equivalent).

Required skills

• Architectural detailing, specifications and building systems expertise.
• In‑depth knowledge of UAE authority approvals, building regulations and international design standards.
• Experience with BIM delivery processes and digital design platforms.
