Barista – Lobby Café, Business Center

About the role

HIVEHIVE is a new business center on the 14th floor of i-Rise Tower, Barsha Heights, with 119 private offices, meeting rooms, a podcast studio and a lobby café with a 30-seat lounge. It opens in December 2026. The café is run on a La Marzocco two-group machine, serving members who visit two or three times a day and guests waiting for tours. Two baristas are needed: a Lead Barista (who owns recipes, machine care and ordering and trains the second) and a Barista.

Key responsibilities

• Make espresso drinks, filter coffee, tea, iced drinks and juices to one recipe, every cup; dial in the grinder each morning, steam microfoam and pour clean latte art.
• Clean group heads, wands and grinder on schedule and back-flush at close.
• Display, date-label and serve pastries and sandwiches, toast to order and log waste.
• Open and close the café with the daily checklist; the café is card-only, using card payments or the member app.
• Stock counts and ordering from agreed suppliers, checking deliveries.
• Maintain Dubai Municipality food-safety logs (temperature, cleaning, allergens).
• Serve refreshments for meeting rooms and events and help the front desk in busy hours.

Required profile

• 2+ years as a barista on a manual or semi-automatic machine (La Marzocco, Nuova Simonelli or similar) in a specialty café, hotel café or premium office café; super-automatic-only experience is not enough.
• Fluent English; Arabic, Russian, Filipino or Hindi is a plus.
• Positive, energetic and warm with people, able to remember names and keep up with small talk.
• Flexible on hours, including occasional extra hours for events or cover, paid as overtime under UAE labour law.

Required skills

• Dialing in a grinder, pulling a consistent shot, steaming microfoam and pouring latte art.
• Fast and tidy at a busy counter, comfortable with a POS and stock counts.
• Food-handler certificate required before opening (arranged and paid by the employer); Lead Barista needs a PIC certificate, also arranged.
