Business Development Manager – Wire Rod

About the role

The Manager, Business Development – Wire Rod is responsible for identifying and developing new commercial opportunities across key steel‑consuming sectors such as construction, manufacturing and downstream wire‑rod applications. The role combines market development, stakeholder engagement, technical expertise and value‑engineering to position the company as a trusted partner.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement market‑development plans for wire‑rod products across priority customer segments and applications.
• Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, processors, fabricators, contractors, consultants and other industry stakeholders.
• Generate and manage a qualified pipeline of opportunities, create value propositions and support sales conversion.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct product trials and develop customized wire‑rod solutions in collaboration with R&D, engineering and production teams.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives to expand the wire‑rod portfolio, prepare business cases and support product launches.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial or Civil Engineering; postgraduate business qualification is a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in business development, technical sales, product development or key‑account management within steel, metals or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong knowledge of wire‑rod products, applications and downstream manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in wire‑rod specifications, steel usage and value‑engineering.
• Ability to conduct market research, develop business cases and perform financial analysis.
• Proficiency in coordinating cross‑functional teams (sales, R&D, engineering, production, quality, supply chain).
