Chief Engineer – Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance

About the role

The Chief Engineer will lead planning, oversight and compliance of Dubai Metro Alstom rolling stock maintenance programmes, ensuring safety, performance and alignment with RTA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement rolling stock maintenance strategies, KPIs and optimisation initiatives.
• Prepare functional requirements and technical specifications for Alstom rolling stock procurements.
• Provide technical expertise in tender evaluations, apply value‑engineering principles and oversee contractor performance.
• Supervise technical systems (HVAC, propulsion, brakes, TCMS, doors) and ensure integration with signalling, SCADA, power and communications platforms.
• Maintain risk registers, manage hazard mitigation, verify safety cases and handle variations/claims.
• Monitor contracts to ensure quality, compliance and timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Lead factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, inspections and quality assurance for Alstom assets.
• Analyse performance data and maintenance reports, delivering assessments and recommendations to management.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years (72 months) of experience in rail rolling stock maintenance or related engineering roles.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale maintenance programmes and contractor performance.
• Strong knowledge of RTA standards and Alstom rolling stock systems.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage risk and safety documentation.
