About the role
The Chief Officer – SDPO is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's Dynamic Positioning (DP) system. This senior position ensures continuous on‑duty coverage, accurate data recording, and compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the DP system according to operational requirements.
- Maintain a continual on‑duty scheme in the DP control room.
- Record all DP system data accurately.
- Set up DP system operating parameters.
- Assist with maintenance of DP equipment.
- Inspect DP system sensors, computers, and reference equipment regularly.
- Apply IMCA requirements related to DP operations.
- Train and ensure the JDPO is capable of handling the DP system.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Full and unlimited DP certificates.
- Minimum 4 years experience on DP‑equipped vessels.
- Good English communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of safe practices for DP operation.
