Civil Inspector - Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Zutari, an engineering firm with nearly 90 years of experience, is hiring a Civil Inspector in Dubai. The inspector monitors, supervises and inspects civil works on infrastructure projects, with a focus on RTA and Dubai Municipality standards, project specifications, approved drawings and local and international codes. The role provides on-site technical oversight so that earthworks, roadworks, utilities, drainage, concrete works and other civil elements meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and supervise civil works such as earthworks, excavation, backfilling, compaction, roadworks, asphalt and concrete pavements, kerbs, footpaths, drainage, manholes, pipelines, ducts, foundations, retaining walls and reinforcement.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, RTA/DM requirements, method statements, ITPs and risk assessments.
• Review Inspection Requests (IRs) and material submittals, and support shop drawing reviews.
• Witness and verify tests such as compaction, concrete cubes, asphalt density, pressure tests, CCTV and infiltration tests, and keep daily inspection reports, logs, checklists and photos.
• Record and follow up on non-conformances, recommend corrective actions and support snagging, as-built verification and handover.
• Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, subcontractors and authorities, escalate risks early, and ensure HSE compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7-10 years of civil inspection experience on road/infrastructure projects in the UAE.
• Proven experience on RTA and/or Dubai Municipality projects and familiarity with their standards and approval processes.
• Strong communication and technical reporting skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Experience with international consulting/engineering firms is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of civil construction methods and materials (earthworks, compaction, asphalt, concrete, drainage, utilities).
• Familiarity with standards such as BS, ASTM, AASHTO, ACI or equivalents.
• Proficiency in MS Office and digital site inspection/reporting tools.
