Clinical Social Worker

About the role

SSMC is hiring a Clinical Social Worker in Abu Dhabi. The role supports patients, families and significant others with their psychological, social, environmental, financial and emotional problems through psychosocial assessments and interventions that improve the quality of life. It also involves supervising junior staff and managing the workload within the specialist area.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in daily workload allocation and prioritisation of caseloads within the specialist area.
• Supervise junior staff and ensure they follow the rules and policies of the section, department or facility.
• Carry out comprehensive, person-centred psychosocial assessments and plan and implement individual care strategies together with the service user, carer and the multi-disciplinary team, updating the patient file as required by JCI.
• Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry, reporting and professional self-governance under professional codes of practice.
• Act as an advocate for patients and families so that their wishes are central when planning long-term care.
• Promote awareness of social care context and anti-discriminatory practice among colleagues and support multi-disciplinary working.
• Respect the rights, spiritual beliefs and customs of service users and their families.
• Keep patient, staff and other information confidential in line with professional codes and legislation.
• Liaise with other agencies, including government and charities, and collaborate with professionals and external organisations to deliver services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent.
• Postgraduate degree in Social Work (e.g. Master's or higher).
• Previous experience providing direct patient care in a medical or healthcare setting.
• Able to cope with frequent exposure to distressing situations and to concentrate intensely.
