Commis 1 – Kitchen Support Role

About the role

The Commis 1 will support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations at the luxury SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, ensuring high standards of food preparation and service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef with food preparation, cooking, and mise en place.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, portion size, and presentation across all service areas.
• Monitor food preparation during service to ensure timely and efficient order completion.
• Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Support stock control, report shortages, and help minimize food wastage.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; culinary diploma preferred.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or professional kitchen, preferably as a Commis 2.
• Good command of English, strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Willingness to learn, develop culinary skills, and support senior chefs during service.

Required skills

• Basic Food Safety or HACCP certification (advantageous).
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures.
