About the role
Mandarin Oriental Jumeira in Dubai is seeking a Commis 1 to join its Pastry & Bakery Kitchen team. The role involves supporting the preparation and service of pastry and bakery items while maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.
Key responsibilities
- Wash and peel ingredients and prepare mise en place to the highest quality.
- Set up and replenish buffets, assist with requisition handling and storage organization.
- Store ingredients properly, label them, and maintain cleanliness of work surfaces and utensils.
- Report kitchen cleanliness and maintenance issues and adhere to food safety standards.
- Support other outlets and banquet operations as requested.
Required profile
- High School qualification or equivalent; hospitality or culinary diploma preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Commis 1 in pastry & bakery.
- Ability to work long hours and lift objects up to 15 kg.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen tools, utensils and food hygiene.
Required skills
- Basic knowledge of kitchen tools and utensils.
- Understanding of basic food hygiene practices.
