Commis 2 – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Assist the Chef de Partie and kitchen team with daily food preparation and cooking activities in a 5‑star hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, garnishes and other mise en place as instructed.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, taste and consistency.
• Assist with receiving, storing and organizing food supplies following FIFO procedures.
• Keep workstation, equipment and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards and hotel procedures.
• Support kitchen operations during busy service periods and assist with buffet, restaurant and banquet duties.
• Monitor stock levels and inform Chef de Partie of shortages.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any issues.
• Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years of cooking/kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel.
• One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
• Gracious, friendly and fun demeanor with strong communication skills in English.
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast‑paced environment and pay high attention to detail.
