Commis – Food & Beverage (Full-Time)

About the role

The Commis supports the kitchen team at Aloft Hotels in Dubai, preparing special meals, maintaining food quality, and ensuring smooth service during busy periods. This full‑time position requires hands‑on food preparation, adherence to safety standards, and clear communication with chefs and service staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals or substitute items, ensuring proper portion, arrangement, and garnish.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Pull food from freezer storage and thaw it in the refrigerator.
• Maintain food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
• Communicate assistance needs during busy periods and inform the Chef of excess food for daily specials.
• Notify service staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality, presentation standards, and checklists.
• Prepare cold foods and ensure proper food safety practices.
• Follow company safety policies, report maintenance needs, and complete required safety training.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.

Required profile

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree.
• At least 3 years of related food‑and‑beverage experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift objects up to 25 lb and perform bending, twisting, and reaching tasks.
• Clear, professional communication skills.
