Commis II - Culinary Assistant

About the role

ibis World Trade Centre in Dubai is looking for a Commis II who works directly with the core leadership team in Culinary, rotating through various kitchen sections. The Commis prepares dishes under the direct supervision of Sous Chefs, from food preparation to cooking, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food and cook under the supervision of Sous Chefs, adhering to recipes, presentation standards and guest preferences.
• Measure ingredients and portion sizes accurately, handle deliveries and manage stock rotation.
• Work on different stations such as cold food, hot food, pastry or butchery, rotating to gain experience.
• Handle and store food safely, keeping it fresh and compliant with food safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, utensils and storage areas.
• Greet guests warmly, anticipate their preferences and protect guest privacy.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and follow instructions from senior chefs while learning new skills.
• Report any issues with facilities or equipment to the senior team or engineering department.

Required profile

• Proficient knife skills and basic cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well under pressure.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, adaptability and willingness to learn.
• Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.
• Culinary education or training from a recognized school or apprenticeship is a plus, but not required.
