Community Engagement & Accessibility Unit Head

About the role

The Museum is seeking a senior leader to shape and drive its community engagement and accessibility strategy. The role will champion inclusive programmes, partnerships and initiatives that remove barriers for People of Determination, seniors, multilingual audiences and other under‑represented groups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the museum’s community engagement and accessibility strategy, annual plans, KPIs, budgets and performance measures.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, handling recruitment, performance management, coaching and professional development.
• Oversee planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of all community engagement and accessibility programmes.
• Integrate accessibility into strategic planning, exhibitions, digital content, visitor services, procurement and capital projects.
• Act as the museum’s accessibility subject‑matter expert, conducting audits, creating improvement plans and ensuring compliance across all functions.
• Represent the museum on accessibility and inclusion matters locally and internationally.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading community engagement and accessibility initiatives in cultural or public‑sector organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of universal design principles and accessibility standards (physical, sensory, cognitive, communication).
• Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and performance measurement.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across museum departments and external partners.
