Compliance Officer

About the role

The Compliance Officer will join Hugh Fraser International in Dubai to design, implement and maintain robust compliance frameworks for the firm’s international and Middle‑East activities. Working in a hybrid setting, the role supports both internal teams and energy‑sector clients in navigating complex regulatory environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain compliance frameworks and policies aligned with applicable laws, regulations and internal standards across HFI’s international and Middle‑East activities.
• Monitor regulatory developments in the energy sector, assess their impact on the firm and its clients, and update procedures and documentation accordingly.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, perform internal reviews and support audits to identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare compliance reports and support training and awareness initiatives for team members.
• Collaborate with legal, consulting and finance colleagues and contribute best‑practice guidance for clients operating in the energy and energy‑transition markets.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, implementing and overseeing compliance management frameworks and processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, preferably within legal, consulting, financial or energy‑sector environments.
• Strong analytical ability to assess risk, interpret complex regulations across multiple jurisdictions and present clear, actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing policies, reports and guidance.
• Understanding of finance‑related concepts and the compliance implications of financial transactions, corporate structures and investment activities.
• Relevant academic background such as a degree in Law, Business, Finance, Compliance or a related field.
