Consultant ICU / Critical Care Medicine Specialist – Sharjah

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in ICU and Critical Care Medicine to join a leading tertiary hospital in Sharjah. The specialist will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care to critically ill adults, working within a multidisciplinary team to manage complex medical and surgical cases.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Provide advanced life support, including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy and ventilator management.
• Lead ICU rounds, coordinate patient care plans and collaborate with emergency medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, pulmonology, cardiology and other specialties.
• Supervise junior physicians, residents and ICU staff.
• Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control and patient safety standards.
• Participate in rapid response teams, code‑blue events and hospital emergency preparedness.
• Maintain accurate documentation per MOH UAE regulations.
• Contribute to research, quality improvement, audits and CME activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent recognized by MOH UAE.
• Board certification/fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesia Critical Care or Pulmonary & Critical Care.
• Valid MOH UAE Consultant license or eligibility letter.
• Minimum 5–7 years post‑board ICU experience in a tertiary care setting.
• ACLS certification (preferred).
• Strong communication, leadership and decision‑making abilities.
