Consultant Infectious Disease (Sharjah)

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced Consultant in Infectious Diseases to join a leading hospital in Sharjah. The role involves delivering expert clinical care, diagnosing and managing a broad spectrum of infectious conditions, and leading infection prevention initiatives within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Lead management of complex cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis.
• Provide expert advice on hospital‑acquired and healthcare‑associated infections.
• Develop and implement antimicrobial stewardship programs and infection‑control policies.
• Participate in outbreak investigations, surveillance activities, and infection‑prevention projects.
• Oversee isolation protocols and ensure compliance with infection‑control standards.
• Educate and train medical staff on infection prevention and control practices.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality‑improvement initiatives, and hospital governance.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Board certification in Infectious Diseases (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Infectious Disease specialist.
• Eligibility for UAE medical licensing (MOHAP for Sharjah).
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, leadership and teamwork abilities.
