Consultant Maternal & Fetal Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Maternal & Fetal Medicine will lead high‑quality, evidence‑based obstetric care within Al Dhafra Hospitals. This senior clinician will manage complex pregnancies, supervise junior staff, and ensure seamless multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical excellence by diagnosing, managing and treating maternal‑fetal conditions.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Lead ward rounds, oversee inpatient and outpatient cases, and ensure thorough documentation.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, including specialists, GPs and residents.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate care with other specialties.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Maintain compliance with hospital, departmental and DOH policies, including infection control and patient safety.
• Engage in quality improvement activities such as clinical audits and risk management.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree with a postgraduate qualification (MD, MS, DNB) and successful completion of a recognized specialty training program.
• 3‑7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for or a valid DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) medical license, including required primary source verification and exam completion.
