Consultant Neurosurgeon – Abu Dhabi

About the role

The Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, a JCI‑accredited 200‑bed facility in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a Consultant Neurosurgeon to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering comprehensive neurosurgical care for brain, spine, peripheral nerve and cerebrovascular disorders, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage patients with neurological disorders affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system.
• Perform elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures within granted clinical privileges.
• Provide pre‑operative, operative and post‑operative neurosurgical care.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and manage neurosurgical emergencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Interpret diagnostic imaging and other investigations relevant to neurosurgery.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
• Engage in quality improvement, clinical audits and patient safety programs.
• Educate patients, families and support teaching and mentoring activities within the department.

Required profile

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
• Completion of an accredited residency and higher specialty training in Neurosurgery.
• Consultant qualification recognized by UAE Professional Qualification Requirements (e.g., Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Fellowship, CCT/CCST, European equivalents).
• Experience in both elective and emergency neurosurgical practice.
