Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmology (STMC) – Al Ain

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmology (STMC) will provide specialist eye care for children within Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammad Medical City, supporting clinical, managerial and compliance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support and implement hospital, departmental and divisional policies and initiatives.
• Lead performance management processes, including peer review and productivity reviews.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, medical coverage, recruitment and administrative duties.
• Attend divisional meetings and represent the division as required.
• Diagnose and treat pediatric ophthalmology patients according to best practice.
• Oversee junior medical staff and ensure quality of care.
• Conduct ward rounds, reassess in‑ and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Review investigations, modify treatment plans, and obtain informed consent for procedures.
• Liaise with other specialties and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic patient care.
• Ensure compliance with SEHA policies, licensing, certification and mandatory training.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Pediatric Ophthalmology (American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, or equivalent).
• Current national medical license.
• Minimum five years post‑specialization experience.
• Proof of annual CME and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work within SEHA’s performance and quality frameworks.
