Crane Technician / Mechanical – Offshore & Workshop

About the role

The Ad‑Hoc Crane Maintenance Mechanical Technician will perform maintenance, repair and overhaul of offshore crane mechanical systems, working both on offshore platforms and in an onshore workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on offshore cranes, winches, hoists and related equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect, overhaul and re‑assemble critical crane components such as gearboxes, drums, and hydraulic systems in the onshore workshop.
• Support the Offshore Crane Maintenance Supervisor to ensure 5‑year major overhauls are completed on schedule and downtime is minimized.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and parts inventories, and ensure compliance with HSE protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in mechanical, electrical or crane maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years offshore experience in crane mechanical maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with winches, hoists, gearboxes and hydraulic systems.
• OPITO‑approved BOSIET, OGUK medical and ability to work shift patterns.

Required skills

• Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical knowledge of crane systems.
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance, hydraulic and isometric drawings.
• Experience with SAP for maintenance tracking.
• Basic IT skills: Microsoft Word and Excel.
