Data Center Facility Engineer – AWS

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Data Center Facility Engineer to operate and maintain the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of its data centers in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves hands‑on troubleshooting, safety oversight, and ensuring high availability of critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment such as UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs and transformers.
• Perform routine operational readings, troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events, and conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Lead safety initiatives, remediate safety risks, and foster a world‑class safety culture.
• Supervise contractors during servicing and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in a rotating shift schedule (4 × 12‑hour shifts) and on‑call rotations for emergency response.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of key electrical theory and mechanical/HVAC systems.
• Ability to work in noisy, outdoor, and elevated environments and lift objects within regulated limits.
