Data Scientist – Advanced ML for Oil & Gas

About the role

The Data Scientist will design, develop, and deploy advanced machine‑learning solutions that improve reliability, predictive maintenance, and production optimisation for an oil and gas environment. You will work closely with engineers, subject‑matter experts and business stakeholders to turn complex industrial data into actionable, production‑grade models.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy ML algorithms for reliability monitoring, predictive maintenance and operational optimisation.
• Lead end‑to‑end data‑science initiatives from problem definition through deployment, monitoring and performance‑drift management.
• Collaborate with data engineers and domain experts to identify, validate and interpret new data sources.
• Implement MLOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, containerisation and automated testing.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience building and operating ML solutions for industrial use cases.
• Proven experience in the Oil & Gas or manufacturing sector with strong domain knowledge of asset performance and process optimisation.
• Advanced degree (MSc) in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related quantitative field.

Required skills

• Python, R, JavaScript (plus familiarity with Java or Scala).
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as MapReduce and streaming technologies.
• Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics.
• Hands‑on MLOps expertise: CI/CD, containerisation, model monitoring and drift management.
