Dean of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences Division

About the role

The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is seeking its inaugural Dean for the Division of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences. Reporting to the President and/or Provost, the Dean will lead the academic, research and administrative functions of a brand‑new division focused on how AI reshapes decision‑making, work, governance and society.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the strategic vision for the division, building it from the ground up.
• Recruit, develop and support faculty across economics, psychology, public policy, organizational behavior, ethics and innovation management.
• Oversee curriculum design, research programs and interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate AI with humanities and social sciences.
• Represent the division to university leadership, external partners, donors and the broader AI community.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic leadership experience, preferably as a dean, department head or equivalent.
• Strong research record in a discipline relevant to the division (e.g., economics, psychology, public policy, ethics, management).
• Demonstrated ability to build new academic units and attract top‑tier faculty and students.
• Experience working in an international, research‑intensive environment.
