Design Manager - Data Centre

About the role

WSP is looking for a Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams within Property and Buildings, with a focus on the Data Centre sector. The role covers architecture, building engineering, specialist disciplines, infrastructure, utilities and master planning, ensuring coordinated, high-quality design solutions that meet client, regulatory and project requirements. The successful candidate manages the design team through all phases of delivery, safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements, quality standards and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end design process, from concept and feasibility to detailed design, tendering and construction coordination.
• Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across architecture, structural, MEP, ICT, life safety, infrastructure and utility disciplines.
• Serve as part of the client interface team, supporting the project manager on communication, expectations, scope, schedule and budget.
• Promote digital design tools such as BIM, Revit and digital twins, and champion design excellence aligned with WSP's global quality, digital and sustainability standards.
• Manage project risks, design changes and ensure timely approvals and documentation; monitor progress against objectives and deliverables.
• Support business development through proposals, presentations and client engagement.
• Mentor junior team members and coordinate with subconsultants, external experts, authorities, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Support design assurance, technical governance, approvals, permits and stakeholder agreements, and review deliverables for quality compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of project or design management experience within a design practice.
• Strong track record managing complex, multidisciplinary Data Centre projects through all design stages.
• Client-facing experience, preferably in a consultancy, engineering or project delivery environment.
• Solid understanding of multidisciplinary coordination, project delivery methodologies and regional authority standards.
• Prior experience with a data centre-focused multinational design or engineering consultancy is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in BIM and digital design tools such as Revit and Navisworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.
