Design Manager - Expo City Dubai

About the role

The Design Manager works closely with development and design functions to develop and manage designs for the overall Expo City Dubai site. The role coordinates with all relevant stakeholders so that designs are executed in line with approved codes and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Help develop project briefs, scopes of work and tender documents for design consultant contracts, and take part in tender evaluation and award.
• Support creative processes and design concepts aligned with the organisation's objectives, especially in design and master planning.
• Oversee design consultant teams from onboarding and planning to delivery of a coordinated design package, and report daily on design team progress.
• Coordinate with other design management representatives (infrastructure, security, etc.) to deliver an integrated design solution.
• Facilitate technical reviews of design submissions and consultant submittals, and attend and lead coordination meetings.
• Prepare non-standard reports, presentations and correspondence, including scheduling graphics and editing.
• Survey land and buildings and recommend their future development; create detailed drawings and convert them to technical drawings where needed.
• Manage and coordinate third-party design firms, and lead creative sessions for kick-offs and design workshops.
• Manage multiple projects from concept through completion, applying research and analysis of environmental, social, economic, spatial, psychological and physical factors.

Required profile

• 8 years of experience in architecture and urban design.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
• Extensive experience across all phases of architectural projects, from concept to completion.
• Demonstrated project management expertise, with proven experience producing master plans, conceptual designs and illustrative layouts.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Strong creative design skills, including freehand sketching, and graphic presentation skills (PowerPoint, InDesign).
• Revit / Navisworks experience is desirable.
