Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering will lead all engineering and facilities operations for JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, a landmark 5‑star property on Sheikh Zayed Road. Reporting to senior hotel management, you will ensure the building, grounds and physical plant are maintained to the highest standards while supporting a major renovation programme.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering operations, preventive maintenance and emergency repairs across two towers with 1,608 rooms.
• Lead the full‑scale renovation project, coordinating contractors, schedules and budgets to minimise guest impact.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget, capital‑expenditure plans and cost‑control measures.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental and asset‑protection standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and operational reliability.
• Manage and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and professional development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior engineering leadership within luxury hospitality or large‑scale property environments.
• Strong background in managing complex renovation or construction projects.
• Demonstrated ability to control budgets and capital‑expenditure programmes.
• In‑depth knowledge of building systems, safety regulations and asset protection.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
