Director of Groups & Events

About the role

The Director of Groups & Events is responsible for executing all property events, ensuring a seamless hand‑off between sales and operations and back again. The role drives event revenue growth, maximizes departmental financial performance and upholds the brand’s standards for guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyze competitor products, pricing and services.
• Review scheduled events, troubleshoot potential challenges and communicate impacts to property operations.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain food handling and sanitation standards.
• Oversee event operations including banquets, event services and event technology.
• Supervise the event planning team responsible for BEOs and resume writing.
• Ensure meeting spaces and back‑of‑house areas are clean, maintained and properly inventoried.
• Maintain furniture and equipment in line with corporate guidelines.
• Implement brand service initiatives within event management.
• Introduce ideas to leadership to keep the property competitive and generate incremental revenue.
• Develop relationships with external vendors, negotiate pricing and service agreements to enhance the event experience.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least three years of experience in event management, food & beverage, sales or marketing.
• Or an associate degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field with at least one year of relevant experience.
