Drainage Engineer (Design)

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Drainage Engineer (Design) to join its Dubai team. The role offers exposure to a variety of infrastructure projects, focusing on stormwater and sustainable drainage design while developing technical and leadership expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Independently design stormwater drainage systems for diverse projects.
• Manage non‑conventional/smart drainage and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS).
• Develop drainage designs based on urban drainage, water‑sensitive design and SuDS principles.
• Perform hydraulic and system design to meet site‑specific requirements.
• Apply innovative ideas, technology and value‑engineering solutions.
• Supervise and support junior engineers.
• Undertake hydrologic modeling, calculations, drawings and report writing.
• Coordinate with CAD/BIM/3‑D modelling teams.
• Contribute across all project stages under senior engineer guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable university.
• Minimum 4 + years experience in infrastructure, water engineering, stormwater drainage design, catchment analysis and planning.
• Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics and stormwater management processes.
• Experience designing culverts, urban and highway drainage systems.
• Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., SWMM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS).
• Familiarity with GIS and CAD tools such as ArcMap, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation.
• Understanding of Water Sensitive Design and Sustainable Drainage Design (SuDS).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
