About the role
The Dredge Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all mechanical systems aboard dredging vessels to ensure efficient operations.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on propulsion engines, dredge pumps, gearboxes, and auxiliary machinery according to the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Inspect, service, and repair suction pipelines, drag heads, valves, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist the Chief Engineer with dry‑dock repairs, overhauls, and machinery inspections.
- Maintain lubrication schedules, fuel, cooling, and compressor systems, and manage spare‑part inventory.
- Document maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repair logs accurately.
Required profile
- Certificate as Rating and STCW training certification, with a valid medical fitness certificate.
- 5‑10 years of onboard experience on dredgers.
