Electrical Procurement Engineer

About the role

Six Construct, a subsidiary of the BESIX Group and the largest Belgian construction company in the Middle East, is looking for an Electrical Procurement Engineer. The role secures critical electrical equipment, materials and subcontract packages for complex construction and infrastructure projects, through strategic sourcing, commercial optimization, supplier relationship management and coordination with project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement of electrical equipment, materials and subcontract packages, including MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, lighting, power distribution, cables, cable trays, earthing and lightning protection, ELV and communication systems, and building management systems.
• Develop sourcing strategies for major electrical packages and long-lead items, prepare RFQs, ITTs and procurement documentation, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors.
• Analyze quotations through techno-commercial evaluation, prepare comparison sheets and recommendation reports, lead commercial negotiations, and support purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Planning, Commercial, Construction and Project Management teams, monitor supplier production and shipments, track procurement from award to close-out, and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Maintain supplier relationships, support qualification and performance evaluation, take part in supplier audits, and promote sustainable and ethical procurement.
• Review specifications, drawings, BOQs and material requirements, evaluate technical submissions and alternative products, and ensure compliance with international standards and local regulations.
• Ensure compliance with BESIX procurement procedures and delegation of authority, maintain registers, trackers and dashboards, prepare status reports, and support spend analysis and procurement reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-8 years of procurement experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, mission-critical or data center projects.
• Demonstrated experience procuring major electrical systems and equipment packages, and managing local and international supplier networks.
• Proven experience in tendering, commercial evaluations and contract negotiations, and in coordinating procurement across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Nice to have: GCC construction experience, data center and MEP package procurement, EPC and Design & Build exposure, SAP/Oracle/Felix experience, FIDIC contract knowledge, and experience with multinational contractors.

Required skills

• Understanding of electrical systems and materials, and ability to read electrical drawings, specifications and BOQs.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment manufacturers, suppliers and market trends.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting tools.
• Knowledge of procurement planning, expediting, logistics and supply chain processes.
