Electrical Technician – Ex‑Area Specialist

About the role

Proserv is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician with Ex‑certification to install, inspect, test and maintain hazardous‑area electrical equipment across the energy sector. The role involves working on lighting, small power, heat tracing, telecommunications, fire & gas and instrumentation systems in compliance with IEC 60079 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Select, install, inspect, test and maintain Ex‑certified electrical equipment in accordance with IEC 60079‑14, IEC 60079‑17 and related series.
• Create individual Ex‑inspection reports, compile equipment registers and defect lists, and report minor and critical defects.
• Gather daily progress reports, ensure target equipment numbers are met, and act as lead inspector when required.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and documentation to guide field activities accurately.
• Comply with client Permit to Work (PTW) systems, site health‑and‑safety protocols and mandatory training.
• Participate in Toolbox Talks, risk assessments and safety discussions, and submit approved timesheets promptly.

Required profile

• CompEx certified electrician with at least 5 years of experience in hazardous‑area installations, inspection and maintenance.
• Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or related field; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• Strong focus on safety, ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
