Engineer Monitoring Fixed Transmission

About the role

The Engineer Monitoring Fixed Transmission will be responsible for 24/7 incident handling, alarm monitoring and fault resolution across the fixed transmission network. The role involves working in shift patterns to ensure continuous service availability and supporting disaster recovery activities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor major and critical fault alarms, escalating to management and improving turnaround time SLAs.
• Document, plan and execute internal SOC initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
• Perform periodic health‑checks of transport network devices using automation scripts.
• Optimize alarm flooding by reducing non‑actionable alerts.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity for the fixed transmission network.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecom, Electronics & Communications or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on operational experience in carrier‑grade fixed transmission networks.
• Strong knowledge of alarm and fault management for transmission technologies.

Required skills

• Experience with OTN, SDH, ITMC, OSN, Infinera equipment.
• Huawei Optix BWS1600G and OSN series (9800, 8800, 6800, 7500, 3500, 1500).
• Nokia PSS series (64, 32, 36, 16).
• Use of test equipment such as E1 Tester, SDH Analyzer, GE Tester, Power Meter.
• Automation scripting for fixed transmission network monitoring.
