About the role
The school is seeking a dynamic English Lead to oversee the English department from EYFS to KS5. This senior position will shape curriculum, drive standards and support staff across primary and secondary phases.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of the English department across all key stages.
- Design, develop and oversee a progressive English curriculum ensuring clear progression.
- Lead departmental meetings, mentor staff, manage performance and organise CPD.
- Use assessment data to monitor pupil progress, identify under‑achievement and implement targeted interventions.
- Collaborate with other subject leaders and senior leaders to align with whole‑school priorities.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) with PGDE/PGCE or Master’s degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant teaching and leadership experience.
- Proven ability to improve teaching quality and pupil outcomes.
- Experience supporting SEND and EAL learners.
