Field Operator - Gas Turbine & Steam Turbine Plant

About the role

The Field Operator ensures the safe and efficient operation of gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, potline rectifiers, associated plant equipment and related utility services in his designated area, following the instructions of the Shift Supervisor or the Main Control Room Operator. The role is based at the Jebel Ali site; for the Operator Turbine & Boiler and Assistant Operator positions, the scope is limited to gas turbines, steam turbines, associated plant and utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently, and carry out instructions promptly.
• Record routine parameter readings regularly and report deviations, and inform the supervisor or control room of any abnormality or problem.
• Keep standby equipment ready for emergency use and assist in routine testing and re-commissioning after maintenance outages.
• Follow safe working practices, identify hazards and maintain good housekeeping.
• Carry out on-the-job training and strive to increase competency.
• Be fully conversant with emergency procedures for the equipment in charge.

Required profile

• Higher Secondary School Certificate.
• 4 years in a power station, or 2 years as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
• Intermediate English (level 3 or equivalent) to write shift reports, and basic numeracy such as percentages and unit conversions.

Required skills

• Competency in all areas except DCR operation.
• Ability to understand single-line diagrams.
• Communication, planning, organisation, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
