Global Politics Teacher (IB) – Start Aug 2026

About the role

GEMS International School, Dubai Hills is seeking an experienced Global Politics teacher to join its IB World School community from August 2026. The successful candidate will guide secondary students through inquiry‑based learning, helping them develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and a deep understanding of contemporary global issues.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry‑driven Global Politics lessons aligned with the IB Diploma framework.
• Encourage debate and discussion on political systems, human rights, development, and global interactions.
• Create an inclusive classroom that supports EAL learners, gifted students, and those needing additional assistance.
• Integrate real‑world case studies, current affairs, and technology to make content relevant.
• Assess and record student progress, using data to inform targeted support.
• Collaborate with IB Diploma colleagues for cohesive curriculum planning and assessment.
• Support students in research, essay writing, and source evaluation skills.
• Contribute to co‑curricular activities such as Model United Nations and community initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with parents and the wider school community.
• Engage in continuous professional development and uphold GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile.

Required profile

• A recognised teaching qualification at degree level (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) in a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences subject.
• Minimum three years of successful secondary Humanities teaching experience, preferably with IB Global Politics.
• Strong knowledge of international relations, political theory, and contemporary global issues.
• Experience or confidence in delivering inquiry‑based, discussion‑led, concept‑driven learning.
• Passion for developing informed, analytical, and globally aware students.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management abilities.
