Global Politics Teacher (IB) – Start Aug 2026

About the role

GEMS International School, Dubai Hills is seeking an experienced Global Politics teacher to join its IB World School community from August 2026. The role involves delivering inquiry‑based lessons that develop students’ critical thinking, analytical writing and understanding of contemporary global issues.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Global Politics lessons covering political systems, power, human rights, development and global interactions.
• Create an inclusive classroom that encourages debate, dialogue and intellectual curiosity.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including EAL, gifted and those needing additional support.
• Integrate real‑world case studies, current affairs and technology to make learning relevant.
• Assess, record and communicate student progress, using data to inform planning and support.
• Collaborate with IB Diploma Programme colleagues on curriculum planning and assessment.
• Support students in research, essay writing and source evaluation skills.
• Contribute to co‑curricular activities such as Model United Nations and community initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with parents and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification at degree level (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) in Humanities or Social Sciences.
• Minimum three years’ successful experience teaching secondary Humanities, preferably including IB Global Politics.
• Strong understanding of international relations, political theory and contemporary global issues.
• Experience or confidence in inquiry‑based, discussion‑led, concept‑driven learning.
• Passion for developing informed, analytical and globally aware students.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and classroom management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IB curriculum frameworks and assessment practices.
