Group Financial Controller

About the role

Damen, a family‑owned international shipbuilding group, is looking for a Group Financial Controller to join its Group Control team. You will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across all Damen entities, acting as the accounting subject‑matter expert for senior management, auditors and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
• Ensure correct application of IFRS and GAAP across all group entities.
• Design, implement and maintain internal control frameworks.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Assess complex accounting topics such as leases, revenue recognition, impairments and provisions.
• Harmonise accounting policies, KPIs and reporting standards across the group.
• Support M&A, restructuring and special financial projects.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of the financial closing process.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Economics.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in financial reporting, audit or group accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and consolidation principles.
• Experience with ERP and consolidation tools (e.g., SAP, OneStream).
• Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder‑management abilities.
