Head of Department – Secondary Art

About the role

Wesgreen International School in Sharjah is seeking an experienced Head of Department for Secondary Art. This senior leadership position will guide the art curriculum, support teachers, and ensure high-quality learning outcomes for GCSE and A‑Level students.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Secondary Art department, overseeing curriculum planning and delivery.
• Track student progress, analyse data, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate extra‑curricular art activities and exhibitions.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, parents and external partners to promote the department’s vision.
• Mentor and evaluate teaching staff, fostering professional development.

Required profile

• B.Ed or equivalent degree with PGCE/PGDE or similar qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of teaching experience in GCSE and A‑Level art, preferably in a British‑curriculum international school.
• Proven record of outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
• Willingness to engage in extra‑curricular activities and school events.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
