Head of Human Resources

About the role

The Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is seeking a senior HR professional to lead its Human Resources function. Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Administration, the Head of Human Resources will shape and execute HR strategy that supports the university’s overall mission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align the HR strategy with the university’s strategic plan.
• Provide leadership to the HR team, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment processes to attract high‑quality talent.
• Implement performance‑management and employee‑development frameworks that link performance to reward.
• Design and deliver leadership development programmes for current and future university leaders.
• Create attraction and retention strategies, with a focus on Emirati talent.
• Supervise employee satisfaction and engagement surveys and drive action plans.
• Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and compliance with local labour law.
• Collaborate with university management and department heads to align HR initiatives with business goals.
• Monitor departmental budget and financial performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role, preferably in higher education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Fluent in English and Arabic; French is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, policies, procedures, and UAE labour law.
• Understanding of the higher‑education sector and academic support staff needs.
• Leadership, strategic planning, and communication capabilities.
