Head of Mathematics (Starting August)

About the role

GEMS Al Barsha National School is looking for an experienced, passionate, and forward‑thinking Head of Mathematics to lead the department from August 2026. The role combines the National Curriculum for England with a strong emphasis on UAE national values, culture, and identity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and academic leadership for the Mathematics department, aligning with whole‑school goals and the National Curriculum for England.
• Model outstanding teaching practice, set high expectations for pedagogy, assessment, and student outcomes.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment policies, and data‑driven improvement initiatives.
• Mentor, coach, and develop teachers through regular feedback and professional development.
• Foster a collaborative, innovative team environment that encourages reflective practice.
• Use assessment data to identify improvement areas and support personalised learning.
• Promote a love of mathematics through enrichment activities, competitions, and co‑curricular programmes.
• Communicate progress and reporting effectively with parents, colleagues, and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience teaching mathematics at secondary level.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a mathematics department.
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for England and UAE educational priorities.
• Commitment to fostering high academic standards and student confidence in mathematics.
