Instrumentation Project Engineer

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Project Engineer for instrumentation in the oil and gas sector, based in Dubai. The role covers the full lifecycle of instrumentation work, from design and procurement through to site support and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and update instrumentation design documents such as P&IDs, instrument index, loop diagrams and wiring diagrams, and prepare datasheets, hook-up drawings, cable schedules and material take-offs.
• Assist in defining instrumentation philosophy, control narratives and system integration requirements (PLC/DCS/SCADA).
• Coordinate planning, scheduling and execution of instrumentation activities, working with discipline engineers, construction teams and subcontractors, and approve vendor documents and equipment specifications.
• Prepare instrument requisitions and technical bid evaluations, track material delivery, evaluate vendor offers and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Guide site engineers and construction supervisors during installation, testing and commissioning, and take part in site inspections, loop checks and pre-commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications and international codes (IEC, ISA, API, NEC), and support Inspection & Test Plans, method statements and QA/QC documentation.
• Collaborate on flare reduction, energy efficiency and smart instrumentation solutions to improve plant reliability and monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably in EPC projects (oil and gas or petrochemical).
• Familiarity with ADNOC approval processes and documentation standards is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of field instruments, control valves, flow and pressure transmitters and automation systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across disciplines and vendors.
