Junior Research Scientist – Family Business Histories

About the role

The Division of Arts and Humanities at NYU Abu Dhabi is launching a digital‑humanities project that documents the histories of leading family businesses across the MENASA region. We are looking for a Junior Research Scientist to join the team and help build the technical infrastructure that will support this research.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain an archival database with robust data‑integrity and multilingual (Arabic/English) support.
• Research, prototype and integrate AI tools, especially retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), to improve data organization and search.
• Develop and maintain the project’s WordPress website, including wireframes, UX/UI components and a design‑system.
• Provide general administrative assistance to the research team and coordinate with historians, archivists and private‑sector partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a closely related field.
• Less than five years of professional experience.
• Strong interest in humanities research and experience working with multilingual data.
• Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
