Kitchen/Laundry Technician - Engineering

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton in Dubai is hiring a Kitchen/Laundry Technician for its engineering department. The role responds to guest repair requests, resolves maintenance issues with little to no supervision, and performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify and operate shut-off valves
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved channels
• Perform complex repairs on MEP systems, air conditioners, refrigeration, pool heaters and electrical/plumbing equipment, following company standards and local and national codes
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work
• Train and mentor other engineers and perform Engineer on Duty duties including readings and rounds
• Follow safety and security policies, complete safety training, and store flammable materials safely

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds alone, and to climb stairs, ramps and ladders

Required skills

• Advanced ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC
• Proficiency in at least three of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, building management
• Solid knowledge of hand and power tool use and safe operation of CFCs
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
• Advanced troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems
• Universal CFC certification and compliance with applicable state and federal licensing requirements
