Laboratory Technician – Maternity Cover (Starting August 2026)

About the role
GEMS Education is seeking a Laboratory Technician to provide maternity cover from August 2026. The role supports the science department by ensuring the laboratory environment is safe, well‑stocked, and ready for practical lessons.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update registers of laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables.
- Prepare experiments and practical sessions in coordination with the Head of Science and science teachers.
- Keep the labs organised, clean and locked when not in use.
- Report any breakage or damage of equipment to the Head of Science.
- Implement safety procedures and ensure compliance with GEMS policies.
- Prepare an annual inventory of consumables, glassware and equipment.
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, and perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- Degree in Science.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in a similar laboratory support role.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff and students.
- Attention to detail, organised, and a team player.
