Lead Counsel Global Public Sector

About the role

Scale AI is expanding its Global Public Sector business across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The Lead Counsel will join a solutions‑oriented legal team to support market entry, public‑sector engagements and the deployment of generative and agentic AI systems for governments and public entities.

Key responsibilities

• Enable Scale AI’s international expansion by drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including sovereign AI deals, master services agreements and bespoke software development contracts.
• Manage public procurement processes, acting as prime contractor, subcontractor or consortium partner on complex tenders.
• Provide counsel on privacy, data protection and emerging AI regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
• Design and iterate policies and processes that balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues and cross‑functional teams globally to deliver pragmatic solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified in UK, common law or EU jurisdictions with substantial experience in English law matters.
• 7+ years post‑qualification experience in the technology sector, gained in leading law firms, in‑house legal departments or government.
• Strong commercial and intellectual‑property expertise combined with solid business and technical acumen.
• Proven track record negotiating complex SaaS and custom software agreements and navigating public procurement.
• Familiarity with EU law and a collaborative, low‑ego working style.
