Lead Data Scientist - Computer Vision

About the role

EPAM is looking for a Lead Data Scientist in Abu Dhabi to head the development of its latest computer vision approaches for video analytics software. The role focuses on object detection, tracking, re-identification, action recognition and image segmentation, and involves mentoring data scientists and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new computer vision algorithms that detect, track, re-identify, classify actions and segment objects.
• Help select and experiment with YOLO, Transformers, ViT, RF-DETR and Vision-Language Model architectures.
• Deploy ML models for production using TensorRT, ONNX and OpenVINO.
• Design multichannel video analysis systems, including training, deployment and monitoring of models.
• Mentor data scientists and engineers, review code and provide technical solutions to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field; a PhD is an advantage.
• More than 10 years of experience implementing machine learning models.
• Knowledge of computer vision and practical experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Required skills

• Excellent Python programming skills.
• Experience with YOLO, Transformer, Vision Transformer, RF-DETR and vision-language models.
• Model optimization, edge-AI limitations and MLOps video analytics pipelines.
• Preferred: understanding of LLMs, solution architecture, OpenVINO, ONNX Runtime and TensorRT.
