Materials Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Materials Engineer to ensure all materials used on projects comply with specifications and regulatory approvals. The role involves close coordination with contractors and senior engineers on large infrastructure programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve contractor‑proposed materials and methods as directed by the Senior Resident Engineer.
• Provide general oversight of daily contractor activities, including work assignments and on‑site performance.
• Lead and attend site inspections, monitor material delivery, and ensure compliance with schedules.
• Follow up testing, approvals, and reporting from relevant authorities.
• Prepare reports for the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to materials.
• Experience on large construction programmes and design‑and‑build contracts, preferably in the region.
• Good knowledge of local material standards and large infrastructure or landscape projects.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
