Mechanical Design Engineer - Switchgear

About the role

Vertiv is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to support the design and development of customized switchgear and fabricated products in a fast-paced ETO/MTO environment. The engineer prepares manufacturing drawings, runs design reviews, coordinates with project teams and delivers accurate engineering documentation on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation based on project specifications, tender requirements and delivery schedules.
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Conduct design reviews in line with Design Control Plans.
• Coordinate with Design Managers and Project Managers to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Track and communicate BOM changes to stakeholders and follow up on pending technical inputs.
• Ensure project deliverables meet their scheduled timelines and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain compliance with company HSE policies and quality standards, and support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a Design Engineering role, preferably in switchgear, ETO, MTO or custom fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills; excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, AutoCAD and SolidWorks PDM.
• Knowledge of GD&T and technical drafting standards.
• Understanding of mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, structural components and manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: experience in custom manufacturing, familiarity with machining and material selection for sheet metal, copper and aluminum, and proven ability to deliver accurate production drawings and 3D CAD models on deadline.
