Midwife – Labour & Delivery (TP)

About the role

Provides direct and indirect age‑specific care for patients in the Labour and Delivery Unit on scheduled shifts. The role includes nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation and coordination of care while adhering to Joint Commission International standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments using problem‑focused, age‑specific techniques and continuously evaluate physical and psychological needs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop, revise and implement individualized care plans, including transfer planning and documentation.
• Maintain unit supplies, equipment and ensure compliance with safety, infection control and narcotic handling policies.
• Participate in staff meetings, unit committees, continuous quality improvement activities and mandatory education programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or Nursing with Midwifery certification, and a valid license/registration to practice.
• Minimum two years recent post‑graduate experience in a Labour and Delivery unit.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required skills

• Assessment of amniotic fluid using AmniSure.
• Management of amniotic fluid embolism.
• Assistance with amniotomy, placenta examination and forceps delivery.
• Competent handling and documentation of narcotic/controlled drugs.
